Supporting victims and survivors of crime is a critical responsibility.
For many victims, justice does not always mean having their day in court. Some victims, families, and communities experience greater satisfaction and healing by achieving justice through the use of culturally responsive, victim-centered, and restorative justice practices.
Experiencing harm can also create unexpected collateral legal issues for victims and survivors of crime, such as protection orders, restitution and compensation, and loss of employment or housing. For victims, figuring out how to address these issues can be confusing and overwhelming, and re-traumatizing.
I am committed to building a stronger victim services unit in Mason County.
